Abstract

The second assignment is to abstract the original object, again students are expected to create these models using only paper, glue, and gesso.

Abstract artwork is art in which the depiction of real objects has been subordinated in favor of patterns, lines, and color.

The abstract models of your original object should still be slightly recognizable. Don't forget the litmus test! The litmus test consists of a stranger(most likely from the VAB hallway) determining whether the original object is still identifiable within your abstraction of it.

Artists to look at are Meret Oppenheim (fur teacup), Picasso(Les Demoiselles d'Avignon), Deborah Butterfield,Marcel Breuer(chair design), among others.
